Tawnee grew up in rural Colorado and attended college at The Ohio State University. While completing her studies, she worked for non-profit organizations that served inner-city youth and their families. Those experiences ignited a lifelong passion of working with youth. She also enjoyed participating in dance-a-thons to raise funds for a local Children’s Hospital and never missed a home football game of her beloved Buckeyes!
After college, she moved to Barcelona, Spain. She was a teacher at an international school and had the opportunity to work with students and families from over 25 countries. Tawnee also met her husband there. They recently relocated to Colorado Springs with their six-year-old daughter and an adopted dog.
Tawnee is eager to use her cross-cultural communication skills in continued service to youth and their families through her work at Friends of the Children. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, trying new recipes, dancing, being outdoors, ice skating, going to the movies, or curling up with a good book. She especially loves spending time with her family!
