April 21, 2022 KOAA highlights Friends of the Children in news stories that share a positive difference in the lives of families, particularly children, in the Pikes Peak region A lovely connection between one of our Friends, Erich, and Robert, a child that he is mentoring. We are delighted that our Friends of the Children chapter, which launched in October last year, has been so well received by the Colorado Springs community. A number of local organizations have been referring to us children who are facing challenges in their young lives and our Friends (mentors) have been meeting with them and their families on a regular basis. Our program has been generating a lot of interest in local media and we’re grateful for the visibility this provides to our program and the important work that we are doing to make a positive difference in the lives of families, particularly children, in the Pikes Peak region. Following a very informative article in the Gazette, we were approached by KOAA, the NBC affiliate in this market. The result is a great story about Friends of the Children and the lovely connection between one of our Friends, Erich, and Robert, a child that he is mentoring. It aired, including a live remote, at 5 pm and 6 pm on April 19th, and again on the April 20th breakfast show.
