September 09, 2022 The Colorado Springs Switchbacks and Friends of the Children The children in our program and their families and caregivers enjoy an evening with the Switchbacks! Some of the children in our program, along with their families and caregivers enjoyed an exciting evening at Weidner Field downtown where the Switchbacks won the match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, and Friends of the Children was the Community Supporter of the Match! Friends of the Children is a nonprofit in Colorado Springs with the mission to break the cycle of generational poverty. We empower youth facing the greatest obstacles by pairing them with paid, professional mentors (called Friends). The Friends of the Children professional mentoring model is a proven success: 92% of youth go on to enroll in post-secondary education, serve our country, or enter the workforce 83% of youth earn a high school diploma or GED 93% of youth remain free from juvenile justice system involvement 98% of youth wait to parent until after their teen years. #mentoring #youth #success
